Shanghai- Cuban artist Martha Jimenez won an award at the 2nd Shanghai Teapots Vessel Biennial, the only one artist in the Caribbean awarded by a jury that selected works by one hundred creators from around the world.

Martha Jimenez's award-winning works are two pottery teapots, belonging to her series "I have it inside", awarded at the Amelia Pelaez Ceramic Biennial in Cuba in 2006, among other awards.

With more than 60 personal and collective exhibitions in salons and events inside and outside of Cuba, the author will exhibit for the first time for the Asian public during the celebration of the Teapot Biennial, from today and until April 31, and has been invited to participate in the Shanghai Fair, scheduled from May 12 to 18.

Martha Jimenez won UNESCO Prize for creativity in the field of ceramic crafts (1997), and was awarded by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) for the sculptural group Plaza del Carmen.
